    Not the forecast for your start or your destination: the forecast for each pass and each wind trap at the hour you'll drive over it, at the road's own height.

    Snow falling on a road below freezing, a wet road freezing overnight, snow in a strong wind: we read the forecast the way Vegagerðin's reports read — dry, icy patches, slush, snow, drifting snow.

    When to leave

    Every departure hour of every day is scored. Slide the departure time and watch the drive change — leave before the front reaches the pass, not into it.
